Billy Chitwood
Regional General Manger – Southern Region
Billy Chitwood, Regional General Manager, oversees the daily operations and management of the South Region of Pioneer Lines, which stretches across the states of Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi.
Mr. Chitwood has extensive operations and management experience in the rail industry, with both Class 1 and short line railroads. He began his career with the Kansas City Southern as Conductor and later became a Conductor for the BNSF Railway. He joined Pioneer Lines more than twenty years ago as an Engineer/Conductor on the Fort Smith Railroad, a Union Pacific branch line. In 2011 he was promoted to General Manager where he oversaw daily operations, FRA compliance, and GCOR rules and testing. Mr. Chitwood assumed his current responsibilities in August 2019, overseeing 4 short-line railroads in Pioneer’s system.
Mr. Chitwood is a graduate of the National Academy of Railroad Sciences, in Overland Park, KS.
