Ross Grantham
Chief Operating Officer

Ross Grantham, Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for all Pioneer Lines operations and is a member of Pioneer’s executive team.

Mr. Grantham began his career more than 20 years ago as a frontline railroad manager working for the Canadian National Railway.  He subsequently managed multiple short line railroads and terminals for some of the largest owners and operators in the industry, including OmniTRAX, Genesee & Wyoming, and Harbor Rail Services.  Mr. Grantham has successfully partnered with executives, investors, and industry to create value in rail-related operations, including start-ups, turnarounds, and large industrial developments.

Mr. Grantham has a proven track record of delivering safe, reliable, and profitable results at operations under his management. He has consistently reduced OR (operating ratio) by double digits, developing effective operating plans, reducing costs through the strategic management of safety, transportation, mechanical, and infrastructure departments, and executing on value-add and industrial development initiatives. His commitment to service, problem-solving, and execution has earned him long term relationships within the railroad industry and with his customers, including such notable industries as Vestas, Siemens, BP, ADM, Unimin, Arcelor-Mittal, Anheuser Busch, Miller/Coors and Constellation Brands, Procter & Gamble, to name a few.

Mr. Grantham holds locomotive engineer certifications and conductor certifications.  Additionally, Mr. Grantham has been an active partner of the ASLRRA (American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association), AAR (American Association of Railroads) and AARS (American Association of Railroad Superintendents) throughout his career.
